Historic Name ROULEAU HOTEL
Description of Significance THE ROULEAU HOTEL IS THE BEST EXTANT EXAMPLE OF A COMMERCIAL STYLE BUILDING IN THE IDABEL COMMUNITY. THE HOTEL IS A THREE-STORY RECTANGULAR BRICK BUILDING, CONSTRUCTED IN 1916-1917. THE FIRST FLOOR CONSISTS OF LARGE DISPLAY WINDOWS AND A CENTRAL ENTRY, RECESSED BENEATH THE SECOND FLOOR. THE SECOND AND THIRD FLOOR CONSIST OF GUEST ROOMS IN FOUR BAYS, EACH WITH DOUBLE WINDOWS. THE BUILDING HAS FEW DECORATIVE DETAILS OTHER THAN DECORATIVE BRICK WORK IN THE FORM OF A CORBEL TABLE AND A CAST STONE BELT LINE BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND FLOORS. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 9/14/2002.
